Why do we go to School?
Why do we go to School?
While many of us are studying, there we’re also out of school youth who are not privileged enough to go to school. It would be that they are struggling from financial crisis, family problems or failing health. These arising problems should not be a good excuse to quit school, if we are just determined to reach our dreams and goals in life. We could find the means to provide and educate ourselves. We may be suffering from different aspects in life we should pursue education for our own good and for the future of the family.
I have asked few people and go through the internet asking “Why should they go to school?” I have collected several responses which include being able to provide and afford the things in the future time. To prove something to people who underestimated what they are capable of doing. To inspire and set as an example to the younger generation, expecting they will eventually follow their footsteps. To have a good job: to live a good, stable life. To make new friends and have companions. And most especially, to pay back the hardships, efforts and sacrifices made by our parents, to make them proud.
To further education, importantly when the profession you’ve decided to take, requires so much knowledge. Due to endless advancements of technology profession nowadays need an enormous amount of education. You can’t be a doctor when you haven’t study how to cure diseases. You can’t be a lawyer when you don’t know how to defend your client. You can’t be a pilot when you don’t know how to operate a plane. And you can’t be an engineer when you never encounter math problems.
Have you ever wondered if you can apply formulas on getting an item on a store? Use trigonometric functions when getting your change over the counter? Apply logarithms on fitting a dress? Use equations when you’re enjoying the view? It really does not make sense but it only made us realize how we are incredibly created by God incorporated with an intellectual capability. This only reminds us how God is so much miraculous and passionate in making us. When we we’re on our science and mathematics related classes and we find it very unrealistic and very confusing to comprehend we often wishes scientist don’t actually existed because they’re making our students life miserable. But have we even realized that we don’t need to go through many processes to discover what they discover. Our generation is in fact riding on their coattails or preferably more understandable as “Dawat-Limpyo” in our own dialect. Though Sciences and Mathematics are often hard to absorb still it reminds us how our world is created perfectly, to glorify God for the most important thing.
It is certainly a fact that a person can get rich without getting a diploma. Such as: Steve Jobs who is the founder and was the CEO of Apple INC. Bill Gates and Paul Allen who we’re the founder of Microsoft INC. and the famous Mark Zuckerberg who created and the current CEO of the most known social networking site which is Facebook. According to Forbes Magazine they all earned more than a billion last year. But most of time this is not always the case for all dropouts. Let us get to the real-scenario. Mostly people who don’t go to school make life very hard on themselves. They end up working on the worst, hardest, risky yet the lowest-paying job. There’s a big possibility that they will engage to crime because they’re not knowledgeable enough to get a profession. It’s not that we judge them but when we look at the statistics street kids are mostly involved in crime such as snatching items, stealing and even hold-ups.
Learning is a lifelong process; we should be hungry to provide ourselves more knowledge each passing day either inside/ outside the school campus. But I strongly believe that a good education and a good foundation of knowledge are attainable through going to school. We should know that there is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and you are finish with education. Our entire life, from the instant we are born to the moment we die, is a process of learning.
